Critical for EU to Reduce Gas Demand, Protect Energy Security: Analyst

The European Union has announced a “voluntary reduction” of natural gas demand by 15 percent this winter. It’s an effort to boost the region’s energy supply security amid what the European Council said was Moscow using energy supplies as a weapon. That’s as Russian state-backed energy company Gazprom announced further cuts to its service via the Nordstream 1 pipeline to Europe. NTD spoke with Nick Loris, vice president of public policy at the Conservative Coalition for Climate Solutions, or C3 Solutions, who discusses how Europe can attain energy independence.
