CEO Praises Shen Yun: ‘It Warms the Heart’

David Stewart, president and CEO of Swallow Mining LLC, attended a Shen Yun after attending an afternoon performance at the Orpheum Theater in Phoenix on Feb. 20.

“Inspiring, professional, really uplifting,” he said. “It warms the heart. Just witnessing it or being a part of it, gives you more hope and we do live in a rough world, there’s a lot of stuff but there is goodness at the base of all of it. I would like to think that’s the center of all of us.”

His wife, Linda shared the experience.

“Just the gracefulness, the way they moved, the way they told the story. It was just lovely,” she said.”I just enjoyed all the stories, the different ones, the silly stories, the serious spiritual stories. It was just wonderful, the whole thing. Thank you, thank you so much.”

“I just felt it was just so professional and so radiant. I just felt like standing up and being much more graceful myself. I just honor them.”

Stephen Oaks, president of Pacific Management Partners, attended an evening performance on Feb. 22. He admired the dedication the performers put in to achieve that skill level.

“I knew it would be good and I’m not disappointed, it’s very very good. Hen hao [very good],” he said. “It really has a lot of balance and coordination that we don’t normally see in the United States.”

“I liked the spiritual theme through the whole thing,” said Stewart. “I was quite impressed with that. I am familiar with what’s happening or has happened, of course, in China as we all are, and that they had the courage to speak up and speak out is quite amazing. And they do it with such talent and beauty. The music is phenomenal as well. Just awesome experience, all-encompassing awesome experience.”

“One thing I will take away is a greater appreciation of Chinese culture and Mongolian culture, and I am just really, really pleased,” said Stewart. “I have recently been studying about Mongolian culture and I was amazed to see it was a theme and I loved that. I want to be a Mongolian cowboy in my next life or maybe I already was.”
