LOS ANGELES—Agnes Gibboney is an angel mom whose 29-year-old son was murdered by an illegal alien back in April 2002.

Ronald da Silva was standing with a friend in his driveway when he was shot and killed by Luis Humberto Gonzalez, for no apparent reason.

“I banged on the window and I said, Ronald, just open your eyes, don’t do this to me,” said Gibboney. “And I thought that Ronald was playing a prank because he loved to play pranks, and I thought he really did a good one this time. And he just wouldn’t move. They wouldn’t allow me to to touch my son, to hold my son. Next time I saw him was in the morgue.”

The felon is expected to be released this November. Gibboney learned recently that he may not be handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) directly.

“They told me that he has an ICE hold, my son’s killer. ICE was notified but if he has a medical condition, they would not turn him over to ICE, they will release him so that he can get medical care, and then he would turn himself over to ICE. Really? I mean, duh? Do you think he’s going to turn himself over to ICE?”

She already finds it insulting that she has to support the felon unwillingly.

“I have to support, through my tax dollars, the guy that murdered my son? I have to feed him in prison. You know what a slap in the face that is?” said Gibboney. “They will just flat-out release him so he can get medical attention at my tax dollars, at your tax dollars. How infuriating is that?”

She isn’t afraid of letting her story go public, but she is worried about how her family will be kept safe from her son’s killer.

“I’m overwhelmed already, trying to think of how I’m going to deal with that day. It the date remains November 23… what am I going to to that day? I’m going to the cemetery and say to my son and tell him how sorry I am,” she said.

She said she tried reaching out to the governor and city officials to ask them to do more, but without much luck.

“When it comes to very important issues [like] releasing a criminal, a felon, a murderer into the community, he would rather protect him than protect a law-abiding citizen like my family,” said Gibboney.

She said she’s thankful for President Trump who speaks his mind and took the time to hear from Angel families.

“He held my son’s poster and looked at him and he says, ‘Mmm what a handsome man.’ I said thank you. ‘Is it your son?’ I said yes. He kissed my son’s picture. What other candidate has a heart like that? To care, to kiss a picture of a total stranger’s son?”

A report in 2015 showed that of the 11 million people living in the country illegally, about 820,000 had criminal convictions. In 2017, it was reported that 94 percent of confirmed aliens in Department of Justice custody are in the country illegally.

As a U.S. citizen who came from a socialist country years ago, Gibboney swore to protect the country and said she isn’t going to give up without a fight. Even if the felon comes after her, she said she is willing to die for her loyalty to the United States.
