Nicholas Brendon, best known for playing Xander Harris in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” was hospitalized due to a second “cardiac incident”.

News of the 51-year-old actor was first announced by his sister in an Instagram post mid this week. According to the post, Brandon was sent to an emergency room for treatment two weeks ago and he is now “focusing on medical appointments”.

Several photos of Brendon strapped safely in a wheelchair were included with the post.

“Nicky sends his love and wanted me to apologize that he hasn’t been going live as much lately and to give everyone an update,” the post said.

“Nicky is doing fine now but he had to be rushed to emergency about two weeks ago because of a cardiac incident (tachycardia/arrhythmia),” it said.

“Some of you might remember he had a similar incident after his second spinal surgery last year (for Cauda Equina) but this time he is trying to get a little more rest and has been concentrating on medical appointments.”

Brendon was forced to step away from promoting his upcoming film “Wanton Want” due to health reasons, his manager Theresa Fortier revealed in October last year.

“Right now he is concentrating on his health. He is not doing promotion for the film,” Fortier told the Daily Mail. “This past week and a half, things have turned out drastically worse. He is suffering from paralysis in his genitals and private parts.”

“He has had difficulties with flying. Sadly, his condition means he needs surgical intervention for his increasing problems,” she continued. “I wish he was on the mend and able to promote this movie.”

The specific condition is said to be Cauda Equina syndrome which occurs when nerve roots are compressed in the lumbar spine.

Fortier, who is also said to be Brendon’s best friend, said the health issue worsened after the actor slept on a jail cell’s concrete floor.

“It has aggravated the symptoms of his previous injury and the paralysis is starting to reappear. He may have burst another disc or everything fell out of alignment,” Fortier said.

“So sleeping on a cement floor with other inmates was not exactly conducive to healing and it aggravated his injury and since then he has been in immense pain with numbness and paralysis.”

The jail sentence followed an incident in September 2021 where the actor allegedly used false information to obtain prescription drugs. He was arrested in Terre Haute, Indiana and charged with prescription fraud.

Brendon’s recent past years have been characterized by both health incidents and personal scandals. Arrests over battery allegations, intoxication issues, and domestic violence have seen him dealing with a range of legal and personal troubles.
