The five-year-old boy who was thrown from a balcony on the third level of the Mall of America has recovered from his fall and is walking on both legs, according to multiple reports.

CNN reported that the boy had even been back to attending school. The boy, who was identified as Landen, enjoyed being back in school along with his siblings, according to an update on his GoFundMe page.

“He gets out of the car every morning happy and blows kisses all the way in! He’s a strong, happy boy. When his mommy asks him if she can look at his wound or asks how he’s doing, he always responds with ‘Mom, I’m healed, you don’t need to ask me anymore,'” the update read. Since then, he had been walking on both legs perfectly, the page read.

When asked what happened, the boy loved telling others that even though he fell off a balcony, it was an angel who had caught him, according to the GoFundMe page.

According to the Washington Post, the five-year-old had been thrown over the balcony back in April 2019 and was able to go home from the hospital in August 2019. The news outlet reported that he had gone home with a limp as well as uneven legs as a result of a broken femur from the fall, as well as an open wound on his abdomen.

Since his arrival home, he had been undergoing physical therapy to make sure he could walk again. The five-year-old’s mother had been doing everything she could to give him a quick recovery so that she could take him off some of the medication he was on, according to the GoFundMe page.

“The wound has finally scabbed over, and new skin is growing, and we are still optimistic he will be off some of his medications soon,” the GoFundMe page read.

Although not completely healed, the little boy is doing fine, and according to the GoFundMe page, he looked forward to upcoming appointments at the hospital, considering that he had made several friends and memories of the people who had looked after him while he was in the hospital, according to the page.

According to CNN, the man who was responsible for injuring the five-year-old was Emmanuel Aranda, a 24-year-old from Minneapolis. He had arrived at the mall, hoping to injure someone, but hurting adults did not work out. Instead, Aranda chose to toss the 5-year-old over the balcony.

According to the news outlet, he had been rejected by women, and that caused him to become angry. He had been charged with attempted premeditated first-degree murder, to which Aranda pleaded guilty. The 24-year-old was sentenced to 19 years in prison for his crime.
