A newborn continues to fight for his life after he was miraculously delivered, following the death of his mother who was stabbed and died in south London.
Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, was stabbed at a home in Thornton Heath, near Croydon, around 3 a.m. local time on June 29.
She suffered cardiac arrest and had stab injuries. Despite efforts by paramedics, she died at the scene. She was eight months pregnant.
Her baby was delivered by paramedics at the scene, according to police. He is now in critical condition at a hospital.
Family members had visited the baby to do a blessing on June 29 because they did not expect the baby to survive, The Telegraph reported.

“I don’t think the baby is going to make it,” Fauvrelle’s aunt, Rosa Fauvrelle, said from her home in Crystal Palace in southeast London, the Daily Star reported.
Rosa said that her niece “was an absolute sweetheart. The most gentle loving person and being a mum was all she dreamed about.”
“When she found out she was pregnant I think that really lifted her spirits,” she said, according to the Daily Star.
On Feb. 14, Fauvrelle had posted an ultrasound photo of her baby on Facebook, with a message in anticipation of his birth.
“Happy Valentine’s sweet pea … we can’t wait to meet you,” she wrote.
A statement issued by Scotland Yard on July 1 reads:
“Detectives investigating the murder of a pregnant woman in Croydon have made a second arrest and have named the victim as Kelly Mary Fauvrelle.
“A 29-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, June 29 on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains at this time.
“A 37-year-old male arrested that same day has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
Police say they have yet to deduce a motive behind the attack and “at this early stage officers retain an open mind.”
‘This Is London for You’
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman said, according to The Telegraph, “This is a horrific incident in which a young mother has lost her life and her child is critically ill.”
Norman is leading the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command to investigate Fauvrelle’s death.
“Our sympathies go out to her devastated family,” he said, The Telegraph reported. “They are being supported by specially trained officers following this awful event, and I would ask that they are left alone at this time as they come to terms with the enormity of what has happened.”
Fauvrelle’s uncle said that she would not be the last victim of such an attack in the city.
He told The Telegraph: “This is London for you. It won’t get any better. You could put more police on the streets, or the army, but this is the world we live in nowadays. People have no respect for life anymore. It’s only going to get worse.”
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan wrote on Twitter on June 29, “My heart goes out to this innocent child, and to the mother they have so tragically lost.”

Khan’s tweet came after President Donald Trump said in mid-June that Khan was responsible for the increase in violence in London.

He later said, again on Twitter, that Khan “is a national disgrace who is destroying the City of London!”
Shaun Bailey, a Conservative candidate for mayor in London, wrote on Twitter on June 30: “Please God let this child survive. Please let this baby’s family come together to free it from this most heinous arrival to our world.”

Later on June 29, in London, a man thought to be in his late 20s was stabbed in Newham, east London, around 11:07 p.m., the Evening Standard reported.
According to the outlet, the two cases are the 62nd and 63rd among those who have been murdered in London in 2019.
Dave Ward, Fauvrelle’s boss where she worked, Communications Workers Union, said that Fauvrelle’s loss is “sickening” and that colleagues are shocked by the news.
“Yet another loss of innocent life is utterly sickening. It is clear the gang culture and environment across the UK—but in London in particular—has reached a level where it just cannot go on,” he said in a statement.
