The Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments on Oct. 31 on two affirmative action cases brought forward by Students for Fair Admissions—one against Harvard, the other against the University of North Carolina. Kenny Xu has been following closely the Harvard case in particular. Xu is president of Color Us United, a podcaster, and best-selling author of “An Inconvenient Minority: The Attack on Asian American Excellence and the Fight For Meritocracy.”
Xu says it should be pretty clear that what Harvard is doing is discrimination because while Asians excel on the objective qualifications for admission, they are downgraded on the non-observable “personal rating.”
“They’re using Asian Americans’ traditional value of education, their love of learning, and they’re using it against them in the admissions process, and it has to stop,” says Xu.
In addition to the Supreme Court cases, Xu also explains why his organization has a campaign against the Salvation Army.
