A shooting at Atlanta park resulted in two deaths, three with injuries, and a six-year-old child in critical condition, on Aug. 7.

Atlanta Police said officials arrived at the scene after reports of a shooting at Dunbar Recreation Center inside Rosa L. Burney Park at around 7 p.m, according to CNN.

The six-year-old child was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Egleston Hospital for treatment, where he was diagnosed with critical injuries.

Rashad Rogers, 31, and April Sparks, 33, succumbed to fatal gun wounds and were pronounced dead. The other three victims were said to be “stable.”

Hampton said an altercation from a ball game at Rosa L. Burney Park escalated tensions and instigated the tragic incident.

“There was some type of baseball, softball game ongoing,” Atlanta PD Deputy Chief Charles Hampton said. “There was an argument that ensued and then, next thing you know, there was an exchange of gunfire,” Fox5 reported.

“Deputies responded to a person shot here at Dunbar Park upon their arrival we did find multiple people shot,” Hampton told NBC affiliate 11Alive News on Sunday.

Hampton also told people to use alternative ways to settle disagreements.

“As we’ve said countless times, we’re just asking the citizens just to find a way to resolve conflict without weapons,” Hampton said. “We’re just asking people to, you know, step away. We’re asking people just to let bygones be bygones.”

Authorities have not released information about the identification of the potential suspect at large. Arrests connected to the shooting have not yet been made.
