This set of triplets is rare.
Kuzey and Koray Cerikci are “mono mono” twins, which means they shared one sac and placenta and are identical. They were born with their brother Ayaz, which makes the trio one in 3.2 million.
But now, these boys are becoming famous for another reason.
Known affectionately as “the Piplets,” at age 4 they’re already making their mark on social media, with over 18,000 fans on Instagram.
Kuzey and Koray have been on the big screen, too, starring in a 2018 Hollywood blockbuster, playing the same role: a young prince in “Mary Queen of Scots.”
Mother Claire Cerikci described walking on to a set with 100 to 150 people as “overwhelming,” with the boys playing the son of A-lister Saoirse Ronan.
“We went to stand next to Saoirse Ronan and I had to hand my son over to her, before we started filming. She was really really nice, she chatted to us for five minutes before we started filming and broke the ice,” Claire said.
“As we walked on set there was the director who would always tell everybody, the baby or child is going on to set so everybody stops talking, it makes it quite a quiet and calm atmosphere to walk on to.”
They have also appeared in the BBC’s “Silent Witness” and Sky’s “Save Me.”
Unexpected
Claire and her husband, Gurcan, are parents to three other children, Yaren, 14, Kutay, 12, and Kaya, 6, who have all done filming work.
“I have four of the six children in a Keira Knightley and Matt Smith film that comes out later this year again for the cinema. It’s supposed to come out on my birthday so it will be a nice birthday present… To have four in one film is quite special,” she said.
As for the triplets time on screen, Claire said it’s not something she ever expected to happen.
The day after the boys were born, an agency was looking for identical twins, so she got in touch.
About five months later, she had a call about a BBC TV series.
“It was a really positive experience, and I’ve always said that, had that not have gone well, we probably wouldn’t have continued, But we really really enjoyed it.”
“I didn’t necessarily think about them maybe being on television or certainly not in the cinema. It’s chance really, to be in the right place and the right time, if the director likes them,” she said.
The boys are also brand ambassadors to over 100 brands on their Instagram page.
‘A Life Changing Experience’
Recalling the moment she realized she had triplets with a rare condition, Claire said it was “quite scary.”
During pregnancy, the triplets had a 50 percent survival rate because the cords could get entangled.
She said they weren’t planning on having another child, then ended up with three.
“A life changing experience but definitely for the better, it’s been a really exciting experience with lots of new experiences along the way,” she said.
