Key Bridge Design, Condition Was ‘Sound,’ Economy ‘Will Adjust’: Expert

The Francis Scott Key Bridge’s design and condition were sound, according to James E. Moore II, professor emeritus of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California. Mr. Moore spoke with NTD, one day after the bridge’s collapse, about bridge research, ways to prevent future collisions, and how the economy will respond to the loss of the bridge. Mr. Moore said the bridge collapsed because of the “amazing amount of force” that was imparted on it.
