After an attempt led by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to oust him failed on Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), after calling the Motion to Vacate “regrettable,” said he plans to continue serving “the whole House” as speaker. “We need steady hands at the wheel,” he said. “We need people who understand what made America the strongest, the most powerful, the most free, the most successful, and the most benevolent nation in the history of the world.”

Mr. Johnson also spoke about his critics after the vote. “Hopefully this is the end of the personality politics and the frivolous character assassination that has defined the 118th Congress.”
